Rice flour - 2 to 3 cups
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Split urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 1 or 2
Curry leaves
Hing / asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Cashewnuts - 6 to 8
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Instructions
1.
Prepare rice flour and keep it ready. (you can check here how to prepare rice flour at home)

Also you can buy rice flour from store.

Add 1 & 1/2 cup of hot water to mixing bowl. (the water should be boiling hot)
4.
Add 1 tsp of oil and 1/2 tsp of salt.

Mix well.
6.
Add rice flour little by little and stir.
7.
Mix to smooth dough.

Cover with lid and set aside.

Heat 1 tbsp of oil in frypan / kadai.

Add mustard, cumin, split urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, red chilli, cashewnuts and hing.

Allow to splutter.

Turn off flame.

Add the seasonings to the dough.

Add grated coconut.
15.
Mix well.

Knead to smooth soft dough.

Take a small ball of the dough and roll it as shown in video.
18.
Press gently to kozhukattai shape.
19.
Place in Idli plates greased with oil.
20.
Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.
21.
Steam cook the kozhukattai for 10 to 12 mins.

Turn off flame.

Lipsmacking healthy delicious kara kozhukattai is ready.
