Matar pulao is a divine rice dish and tastes aromatic delicious when paired with cucumber raitha. This simple and easy restaurant style pulao recipe can be prepared quickly at home. Ingredients
Basmati rice - 1 cup
Peas - 1/4 cup
Onion - 1
Green chilli - 2
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Bay leaf - 1
Cloves - 4
Cardamom - 2
Cinnamon - 1
Black pepper - 4
Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
Water - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Instructions
1.
Wash & soak basmati rice in water for 10 mins.
2.
Drain water and set aside.
3.
Slice onions, green chilli & coriander leaves.
4.
Keep fresh or frozen peas ready.
5.
Heat ghee in pressure pan.
6.
Add cumin seeds and wait to splutter.
7.
Add black pepper, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon and cardamom.
8.
Add sliced onions, green chilli, salt and saute until light brown.
9.
Add peas and saute for 2 mins.
10.
Add basmati rice and saute in high flame.
11.
Add 1/2 cup of thick coconut milk and 1 cup of water. (For 1 cup of basmati rice, 1/2 cup coconut milk & 1 cup of water to be added)

Mix well.

Cover & pressure cook for 2 whistles.
14.
Turn off flame.
15.
Open the lid, once the pressure goes off.
16.
Fluff the pulao gently.
17.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
18.
Serve hot with cucumber raitha or onion raitha or any spicy curry of your choice
