Vazhakkai bajji is one of the very popular snack recipe of Indian cuisine. I love to munch on bajji particularly on a rainy day. The spicy taste of bajji along with garma garam tea is absolute divine. Also its a handy recipe to prepare quickly when we have unexpected guests. It tastes yummy along with a combo of chutney or sambar. This simple snack is prepared with besan flour, rice flour along with some flavorful spices. So, here is the easy vazhakkai bajji video recipe for you!

Ingredients

Vazhakkai / Raw banana - 2

Besan flour - 1 cup

Rice flour - 1/2 cup

Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp

Red chilli pwd - 3/4 tsp

Hing or asafoetida pwd - a pinch

Baking soda - 1/4 tsp

Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil to deep fry

Instructions

1.

Wash and peel off the skin of vazhakkai.

2.

Cut the edges and slice to thin pieces as shown in video.

3.

Add them to water to prevent darkening of slices.

4.

In a mixing bowl, add rice flour, besan flour, salt, baking soda, ginger garlic paste, turmeric pwd, red chilli pwd and hing.

5.

Mix well.

6.

Add water little by little and mix to smooth paste.

7.

The batter should be thick & in smooth flowing consistency. (refer video)

8.

Heat oil in pan.

9.

Dip the vazhakkai slices in batter and drop carefully in hot oil.

10.

Repeat the same with the other slices.

11.

Take care not to overcrowd oil.

12.

Deep fry in medium flame, until the vazhakkai turns golden & crispy.

13.

Drain in kitchen tissue.

14.

Lipsmacking delicious Vazhakkai bajjis are ready.

15.

Enjoy hot with coffee/ tea!
