Omapodi is a tempting perfect snack to munch along with evening hot coffee/tea. Also its a very popular snack prepared during diwali festival. Its very quick & easy to prepare at home with very few ingredients. This crunchy snack can also be used as a topping over chats like bhel puri, chana masala, paani puri, etc. It tastes absolutely divine with a hint of ajwain aroma. Ingredients
Besan flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Ajwain / Omam - 1 tbsp
Butter - 1 tbsp
Hing or asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry
Instructions
1.
Add ajwain to small cup and add 1/4 cup of water.
2.
Let it soak for 10 mins.
3.
Add to blender and grind to coarse mixture.
4.
Now filter the contents and take aside the clear ajwain water.
5.
In a mixing bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, hing & ajwain (omam) water.
6.
Mix well.
7.
Add water little by little and knead to soft dough by adding butter.
8.
Let it rest for 5 mins.
9.
Grease the omapodi press with oil.
10.
Take a small portion of the dough and stuff it inside the mould.
11.
Heat oil in frypan.
12.
Press the omapodi directly in hot oil in circles as shown in above video.
13.
Deep fry in medium flame.
14.
Once the omapodi turns crispy & golden, flip to the other side and cook.
15.
Drain from oil in a kitchen tissue.
16.
Crispy delicious homemade traditional omapodi is ready.

Store it in airtight container for longer shelf life.
