Makkan peda is a super delicious, elegant sweet from Tamil Nadu cuisine. Its quite famous with the name, "Arcot Sweet" as its a very popular sweet dish in North Arcot district, South India. This delicious dessert is prepared with khoya, maida as main ingredients and stuffed with dry fruits and nuts. It is more like Gulab jamun with heavenly delicious stuffing inside it. Ingredients
Khoya or mawa - 1 cup
Maida flour - 1 cup
Milk - 2 tbsp
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Sugar - 1 & 1/2 cup
Cardamom pwd - 1/4 tsp
Saffron strands
Chopped pista, badam, cashew & raisins - 3 tbsp
Instructions
1.
In a mixing bowl, add mawa, maida flour, ghee, milk and combine.

Sprinkle few drops of water, if required and knead to smooth dough.
3.
Make it to small balls.
4.
Chop the badam, cashew, pista and raisins to small pieces.
5.
Take a dough ball, pat it flat and stuff some dry fruits & nuts in it.
6.
Close it as shown in video and seal the edges.
7.
Rolls the balls again to smooth texture.
8.
Pat it flat.

Set it aside.
10.
Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.

Now lets prepare sugar syrup.
12.
Add 1 & 1/2 cup of sugar to a thick bottomed pan.
13.
Add 1 cup of water and dissolve.
14.
Heat it in low flame and allow to boil.
15.
Once the sugar syrup reaches oily consistency, turn off flame.
16.
Add cardamom pwd and few saffron strands and stir.
17.
Set the sugar syrup ready.
18.
Heat oil in frypan.
19.
Once the oil is hot, add the flattened makkan peda.
20.
Deep fry in low medium flame.
21.
Once the makkan peda turns crispy and golden brown on both sides, remove from oil.

Add the makkan peda to hot sugar syrup.
23.
Let it soak for minimum 2 hours.
24.
Yummy lipsmacking delicious Makkan peda is ready.
