Ingredients
Gram flour (kadalai maavu) - 200 g
Rice flour - 75 g
Butter - 1 tbsp
Red chilli pwd - 3/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Hing or asafoetida pwd - a generous pinch
Garlic - 1
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry
Instructions
1.
In a mixing bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, hing, red chilli pwd, cumin seeds, crushed garlic and mix well.

Add water little by little and knead.
3.
Add butter and knead to smooth soft dough.
4.
Let the dough sit for 5 mins.

Grease the karasev mould with oil.
6.
Take one small portion of the dough and stuff into the mould as shown in above video.
7.
Heat oil in frypan.
8.
Squeeze the dough directly in hot oil.
9.
Deep fry until the sizzling stops and kara sev is golden brown and crispy on both sides.
10.
Drain from oil.
11.
Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.
12.
Crispy, spicy delicious masala karasev is ready.
13.
Store it in air tight container for long shelf life.

It makes a yummy treat to munch along with evening coffee/tea.
