Prawn Curry | Eral Varuval
Today's recipe is a delicious prawn curry recipe, that goes divine with steamed white rice. It tastes more yummier than restaurant style gravies. All the sea food lovers, enjoy this spicy prawn curry that is very easy to prepare. To make this prawn curry we just need the basic ingredients that would be available in our kitchen. Ingredients
Prawns - 1/2 kg
Gingely oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Split urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Onion - 1
Tomato - 2
Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli pwd - 2 tsp
Coriander pwd - 1 tsp
Cumin pwd - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek pwd (vendayam) - 1/2 tsp
Tamarind - small ball
Salt to taste
Fresh curry & coriander leaves
Instructions
1.
Wash and clean prawns and deshell it.
2.
Devein the prawns and set aside.
3.
Slice onions, tomato, drumstick (optional), curry leaves and set aside.
4.
Wash and soak small ball of tamarind in 1/2 cup of water for 10 mins.
5.
Extract thick tamarind juice out of it and set aside.
6.
Heat oil in kadai or frypan.
7.
Add mustard, cumin, split urad dal and curry leaves.
8.
Wait to splutter.
9.
Add finely sliced onions and salt.
10.
Saute until onions turn transculent.
11.
Add ginger garlic paste (optional) and saute for a minute.
12.
Add tomatoes and cook until oil separates.
13.
Add turmeric pwd, red chilli pwd, coriander pwd, pepper pwd, cumin pwd, fenugreek pwd and saute.
14.
Add thick tamarind paste and stir. (add sliced drumstick and cook for few minutes by covering with lid - optional)
15.
Add enough water and adjust the curry consistency.
16.
Taste and adjust salt and seasonings.
17.
Cook until the curry thickens.
18.
Add prawns and cook for few more minutes.
19.
Turn off flame.
20.
Garnish with freshly chopped curry & coriander leaves.
21.
Flavorful delicious prawn curry is ready.

It pairs up excellent with steamed white rice or even as a side with roti, chapati, idli, dosa etc.
