Looking for something hot & spicy tea time snack to munch on cold wintery days? Here comes the classic deep fried savory snack that can be prepared at home easily. This tempting snack is also a kids favorite snack as it has aloo masala stuffed inside. In this recipe, the spicy balls of mashed potatoes are dipped in besan batter and deep fried. Ingredients

Potato boiled - 2 cup

Besan flour - 1/2 cup

Rice flour - 2 tbsp

Cooked peas - 1/4 cup

Sliced onions - 1/2 cup

Green chilly - 2

Grated ginger - 1 tsp

Oil - to deep fry

Mustard - 1/4 tsp

Cumin - 1/4 tsp

Split urad dal - 1/2 tsp

Hing / asafetida - a pinch

Turmeric pwd - a pinch

Red chilly pwd - 1/2 tsp

Fresh coriander leaves

Fresh lemon juice - few drops

Salt to taste

Instructions

1.

Add besan flour to mixing bowl.

2.

Add rice flour, salt, turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd, hing and mix well.

3.

Add little water and mix to smooth thick batter.

4.

Keep the batter aside.

5.

Heat oil in frypan.

6.

Add mustard, cumin, split urad dal and wait to splutter.

7.

Add grated ginger, sliced onions and green chilly.

8.

Toss for a minute.

9.

Add turmeric pwd, salt and boiled & mashed potato.

10.

Add 1/2 cup of water and mix well.

11.

Add boiled peas and combine.

12.

Add lemon juice and fresh coriander leaves.

13.

Toss well and turn off flame

Let it cool.

15.

Make small balls out of potato mixture.

16.

Heat oil in frypan.

17.

Dip the balls in batter and deep fry in hot oil.

18.

Deep fry on both sides, until the bonda is crisp and golden.

19.

Drain in kitchen tissue.

20.

Irresistably deliciuos aloo bondas are ready.

21.

It makes a heavenly combo with tomato ketchup, mint chutney or coconut chutney.

22.

Enjoy warm with steaming hot cup of tea or coffee.
