Purnam Kozhukattai is a delicious dish prepared during Ganesh Chathurthi for offering neivedyam for Lord Ganesh. It is a very popular South Indian festival sweet prepared with rice flour, jaggery and coconut stuffing. Also it makes a healthy tea time snack. My mil prepares varieties of kozhukattais like pidi kozhukattai, kara kozhukattai, etc. Lets see how to prepare this delicious sweet with this easy video recipe.
Ingredients
For Outer Dough
Idiyappam flour / raw rice flour - 2 cups
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Water - 1& 1/2 cups
For Inner Stuffing:
Cashew nuts - 7 to 8
Grated coconut pieces - 1/2 cup
Powdered jaggery - 3/4 cup
Cardamom / elaichi pwd - 1/4 tsp
Sesame seeds - 1/4 cup
Fried gram / pottukadalai - 1/4 cup
Instructions

To Prepare Outer Stuffing

Clean and seive the idiyappam flour / raw rice flour to remove any lumps.

Heat water in a bowl.

Add 2 tsp of oil and 1/4 tsp of salt to it.
5.
Once it starts boiling, pour it in mixing bowl.
6.
Add raw rice little by little with continous stirring.
7.
Once it forms soft dough, stop adding raw rice.
8.
Knead the dough to smooth consistency.

Cover it and let it rest for 5 mins.

Outer stuffing is ready.

To Prepare Inner Stuffing:

Meanwhile lets prepare purnam / inside stuffing.

In a blender add cashewnuts, fried gram, coconut, sesame and elaichi pwd.

Grind to coarse pwd. Now add jaggery.

Blend well.

Transfer to bowl. Inner stuffing ( Purnam ) ready.

Make it to small balls.

To Prepare Kozhukattai:

Make small balls / lemon sized balls out of the outer dough.

Grease oil in hands.

Take one ball and pat it flat.

Now place one purnam ball inside it and seal it to modak shape.

Repeat the same until all the kozhukattais are shaped.

Now grease idly plate with oil.
25.
Place the modaks and steam cook for 10 mins.

Yummy delicious Purnam kozhukattais are ready.
