Tomato Dosa | Thakkali Dosai
Tomato Dosa is a crispy & tasty culinary delight , that tastes unique as they sound..! This is nice and easy to prepare tasty kind of dosa. Its very flavorful and best when combined with idly pwd, coconut & green chutney. The dosa batter need not be fermented as tomato is there for tanginess. You can also prepare this dosa instantly, with tomato puree added to the already prepared dosa batter. Kids will love this for its color, exotic flavor, magic taste of tomato & crispness. Raw rice - 1 ½ cups
Tomato - 3 to 4
Cumin pwd - ½ tsp
Red chilly pwd / flakes - ½ tsp
Asafetida - ¼ tsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard - ¼ tsp
Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
Split urad dal - ½ tsp
Curry leaves - a few
Fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Wash and soak raw rice in water for 3 to 4 hrs.
Grind along with tomato to fine batter.
Add salt and little water. ( tomatoes contain already water in it, so add little water while grinding )
The batter should have little loose consistency.
Add cumin pwd, red chilly pwd and asafetida pwd.
Heat a tsp of oil in a skillet and temper mustard, cumin seeds, split urad dal and finely chopped curry leaves.
Add it to the batter.
Add finely chopped fresh coriander leaves.
Heat the skillet and pour a ladle full of batter and spread it in concentric circles.
Drizzle oil to the sides and cover it with lid.
When it turns slight brown, flip it to other side and cook to crisp.
