Kara Sev is one of the crispy & tasty snack my MIL makes for every Diwali…!! This flavorful Sev is very simple to prepare. The main ingredients are gram flour, rice flour, pepper and cumin. And this savory snack makes a irresistible combo with a cup of hot tea…! Here goes the crispy & flavorful version of Kara Sev. Give a try and enjoy..:)
Ingredients
Gram flour / Kadalai Maavu / chanadal flour - 1 ½ cups
Rice flour - ½ cup
Red chilly pwd - 1 tsp
Asafetida - a pinch
Cumin / Jeera seeds - 2 tsp
Black pepper - 1 tsp crushed
Butter - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
Instructions
1.
Take gram flour in a wide vessel.
2.
Add rice flour to it.
3.
Add red chilly pwd, asafetida, salt, cumin and freshly semi crushed pepper corns.
4.
Mix all the ingredients together.
5.
Sprinkle water little by little and knead to thick dough
6.
Add butter and combine.
7.
In a kadai / wok, heat the oil in medium flame.
8.
In the kaarasev press, or Murukku maker, fill in the dough inside.
9.
Press the handle directly on hot oil.
10.
Deep fry it with stirring.
11.
When the sev turns golden brown color, remove the drain the oil in a kitchen tissue.
12.
Allow to cool and store it in air tight container.
13.
Yummy crunchy home made Kaara Sev ready to relish with hot cup of coffee.
