Kala Chana Masala | Black Chickpeas Gravy
Black chickpeas gravy or Kala Chana Masala is one of the most healthy spicy dish. This authentic dish comes from Punjabi Cuisine. Kala chana / black chickpeas soaked - 1 ½ cup
Onion - 2
Tomato - 2
Oil - 1 ½ tbsp
Ginger - small piece
Garlic - 5 pods
Garam masala pwd - ½ tbsp
Chana masala pwd - ½ tbsp
Coriander pwd - ½ tbsp
Turmeric pwd - ¼ tsp
Red chilly pwd - ½ tbsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

Wash and soak kala chana overnight
Pressure cook with a tsp of salt until it is soft.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add chopped onion fry till transculent.
Add ginger and garlic pieces and fry for a minute.
Add chopped tomato and sauté well.
Allow to cool and mash it to paste.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in the same pan.
Add garam masala pwd, chana masala pwd, turmeric pwd and red chilly pwd.
Add the ground paste and combine.
Add salt, tomato sauce and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Now add cooked chickpeas along with the liquid.
Keep in simmer for 7 to 8 minutes.
Once the masala attains thick consistency.
Remove from flame.
Add a tsp of lemon juice and mix.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
